[14.15] Challenger Draven Guide / Build for Climbing

By ELOSANTA
INTRODUCTION

I go by the name ELOSANTA and I have mained ADC since Season 3.

I have been Challenger on EUNE since Season 7 and Challenger EUW since Season 11

I have peaked Rank 8 with 929 LP in early season 9.

I stream almost everyday on my Twitch so if you have any questions or want to learn a thing or two you can go HERE or can just ask me directly in my Discord

CHAMPION
Draven, the Glorious Executioner
Draven is a very aggressive playstyle ADC. He wins most lanes because of his raw high damage early on. An early Serrated Dirk pickup will let you win most 2v3s even when you are getting ganked.
In season 11 with the new items, Draven's build has become very varied. You can build almost every item and still be very strong, that's why it is important to know when to pick which one.

SUMMONER SPELLS
-

EXHAUST: Exhaust is perfect into assassins and high burst damage dealers to keep yourself alive.
HEAL: Heal into every scenario that isn't already a Cleanse or Exhaust scenario.
CLEANSE: Do not get baited by lanes like Leona into taking cleanse. This summoner should only be taken for mid/late game fights, such as into a Sejuani, Nocturne and similar cases. This spell will win you many games if you know when to take it and when to use it. Remember that you can use Cleanse for Ignite, Exhaust and many other small spells.
RUNES/BUILD

VERY IMPORTANT:

Draven has many builds you can do, and the right build will make you win/lose a game, so make sure you understand this section well, which runes to take and which items to take. Pay attention to rune choices as well and swap them out every game, same as your build, to fit the phase of the game. NEVER build the same thing every game / take same runes every game.

Hail of Blades Draven utilizes Hail of Blades very well since of Spinning Axe, he can dish out 3 quick auto attacks which all of them can be Spinning Axe assuming you already have 2 axes spinning. Hail of Blades is a very strong rune choice for laning phase.

Conqueror You want to take Conqueror on Draven when you are facing tanks, since it is more raw damage, and Hail of Blades is more for dominating lane with short trades. Conqueror is perfect for slow lanes where you can't get any kills and want to play for midgame

The Collector > DAMAGE
You want to go The Collector for most of your games, since it is a really strong item in soloq. While Kraken Slayer is most raw damage you can do, I really wouldn't recommend buying it if you are any rank under Challenger / Grandmaster. With The Collector you can go for very aggressive plays and still get bailed out of stupid plays.

Serrated Dirk
Serrated Dirk is a very important first back item pickup for bloody lanes. This item allows you to win 2v3s in the botlane when you are getting ganked. Super strong item early on. Only downside is that it forces you to buy a lethality item later on like The Collector or Serpent's Fang. With this item your build wants to look something like: Immortal Shieldbow The Collector Infinity Edge Rapid Firecannon
Essence Reaver
Essence Reaver is a very good item if you didn't buy Serrated Dirk early on. The build changes to something like shieldbow, ER, IE if you go this build.

DOMINATION
This section will be used to explain rune choices more in depth. You definitely do not want to take same runes over and over again, and would rather want to adjust to the team comps you are facing. This is true for every other champion you are playing, so pay attention as this is valuable information. IF you don't want to take other secondary runes like Inspiration and Sorcery stick with Precision. Just remember that only runes you should consider taking are Presence of Mind or Triumph or Legend: Alacrity and Legend: Bloodline. If you are playing other champions remember to swap between Coup de Grace versus squishy targets and Cut Down against tanks.
When you see someone telling you to take Hail of Blades there is not much to change in your primary runes, you are kind of locked in to taking double healing in runes with Taste of Blood and Treasure Hunter. Eyeball Collection is another great rune so you have to stick with the choices.
Now for secondary pages, you do not always want to take Precision, there are quite a few choices. Sorcery could be a great pick in the current meta as of writing this with Nimbus Cloak and Celerity being super good runes to get space between you and your opponents. Perfect for targets which stick to you, so you can just use a summoner spell like Heal or Exhaust for a quick burst of speed.
Lastly, you can take healing from Biscuit Delivery in the Inspiration tree along with Time Warp Tonic or Cosmic Insight for some poke-y lanes. Provides very great sustain and popping a Biscuit Delivery at the right time might save you, or even get you mana needed for a kill.
