Brand, Jungle Guide for Season 14 [ PATCH 14.11 ]

By DjapeFromSerbia

Abilities

Brand, the Burning Vengeance
Range, Mage, Teamfight, Utility, Jungler
Role: Mage
Difficulty: Medium
Speciality: Teamfighting
Once a tribesman of the icy Freljord named Kegan Rodhe, the creature known as Brand is a lesson in the temptation of greater power. Seeking one of the legendary World Runes, Kegan betrayed his companions and seized it for himself—and, in an instant, the man was no more. His soul burned away, his body a vessel of living flame, Brand now roams Valoran in search of other Runes, swearing revenge for wrongs he could never possibly have suffered in a dozen mortal lifetimes.

PASSIVE
Blaze

Brand's abilities light his targets Ablaze, dealing 2% of the target's max health as magic damage over 3.25 seconds. If Brand kills a unit that is Ablaze, he regains 30-50 mana (depending on level). Blaze can stack up to 3 times.

When a champion or large jungler monster reaches 3 stacks, the Blaze will detonate after 2 seconds, dealing 9-13% of the target's max health as magic damage to surrounding enemies (depending on level).

Q
Sear

Brand launches a fireball that deals 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+65% of ability power) magic damage to the first enemy hit.

If the target is affected by Blaze, they will be stunned for 1.5 seconds.

W
Pillar of Flame

Brand creates a pillar of pure fire, dealing 75 / 120 / 165 / 210 / 255 (+60% of ability power) magic damage.

Units that are affected by Blaze take 93.75 / 150 / 206.25 / 262.5 / 318.75 (+75% of ability power) magic damage instead.

E
Conflagration

Brand conjures a powerful blast at his target, dealing 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+60% of ability power) magic damage to surrounding units. If the target is affected by Blaze, the spread range is doubled.

R

Pyroclasm

Brand unleashes a devastating torrent of fire that can bounce to Brand or another enemy up to 5 times, dealing 100 / 200 / 300 (+25% of ability power) magic damage to enemies each bounce. Bounces prioritize stacking Blaze to max on champions.

If the target is affected by Blaze, they are briefly slowed by 30 / 45 / 60%.

SUMMONER SPELLS
-
Ghost: I run Ghost in most of my matches, it has lower cooldown than Flash, and it provides you with enough mobility to be annoying for your enemies to catch you, especially once you finish Rylai's Crystal Scepter. In early game you should use it as engaging tool when ganking, and in late game to either catch enemies out of position, or as deffensive tool if enemies have an assassin or you find yourself out of position.

Smite: Smite is an obvious choice as jungler, as my jungler pet I always go with Scorchclaw Pup.
Regarding Brand's jungle item, the Scorchclaw Pup is used in the most of the games. This jungle item provides additional burn damage to Brand's already DoT heavy DPS. It synergizes well with Brand's kit and playstyle.

Flash: I take Flash in games in which I feel I will be either invaded in early game or facing Jarvan IV and his Cataclysm is annoying to deal with with Ghost.

Electrocute is a keystone I use in all of my matches. I find it more stable and consistant in all of my matches. Some matches have a lot of fighting and Dark Harvest might out perform it, but it has much higher damage in slower games.

Dark Harvest is the the only other Keystone I would recommend for Brand, it can outperform Electrocute in some of the matches, especially if you like to play really agressive in early game to get as many stacks as possible.

Electrocute

Consistant
Burst damage in early game is higher
Allows you to not play over aggresive, because you dont need to stack it in early game.

Dark Havest

Can have higher highs some matches
Can be procced multiple times in single fight
Better if you like to play aggresive
Cheap Shot enhances Brand's ability to deal damage by providing bonus true damage when he immobilizes enemies with his Sear, and once you finish Rylai's Crystal Scepter, it will be procced off cooldown.

Eyeball Collection rewards Brand with bonus ability power for each champion takedown, incentivizing aggressive play and snowballing his damage potential throughout the game, it's really easy to stack considering you should have a lot of Kill participation as jungler, and even if you fall behind, in teamfights you can get a lot of stacks considering your AoE damage potential.

Relentless Hunter grants increased out-of-combat movement speed, facilitating better map mobility for ganking, positioning, and setting up plays, ultimately enhancing his overall presence and impact across the map.

Magical Footwear grants free boots at a later stage of the early game, allowing him to invest gold in Liandry's Torment or Rylai's Crystal Scepter early on and accelerating Brand's power spike, while also providing additional movement speed once they're acquired, aiding in positioning and maneuverability during skirmishes and team fights around mid game objectives.

Cosmic Insight lowers the cooldown of summoner spells Ghost and Smite, particularly useful for jungle clears as it allows for more frequent Smite usage during the first clear, that allows you to smite Red Brambleback, enhancing clear speed and efficiency in the early stages of the game.

Liandry's Torment

I rush Liandry's Torment in approximetely 40% of my matches. It has higher DPS than Rylai's Crystal Scepter and increases your jungle clears as well as objective damage by a lot. I always build this item if I'm facing tank junglers that has big gap closer ability such as Zac with his Elastic Slingshot or Jarvan IV with his Demacian Standard+ Dragon Strike combo. Because utility that you gain from Rylai's Crystal Scepter is useless and considering they have a lot of HP Liandry simply does more damage and is better.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter

I rush Rylai's Crystal Scepter in 60% of my matches, mostly cause meta is filled with champions that are dependent on their movement speed and assassins, such as Hecarim, Udyr, Lillia, Kayn, etc... It simply removes their ability to get on top of you, and once you catch them out of position they are not able to run away from you either. Especially combined with Ghost you become really annoying to deal with. If meta changes towards tank junglers, I will buy Rylai's Crystal Scepter less and Liandry's Torment more.
Shadowflame is a really good item choice for Brand, especially if you are ahead, it simply allows you basically oneshot squishy targets, something that Brand struggled in previous seasons considering that his Blaze is based on targets maximum HP. But also it's really good even vs tanks considering you will deal 30% increased damage once they fall bellow 50%HP.

Cryptbloom is magic pen item that I go in most of my matches, it's passive sometimes can save your allies or yourself, it's really good if you have other sources of damage in your team, and you are not the primary carry of the team.

Sorcerer's Shoes is the best Boots upgrade for Brand, there are so matches where I ended up building Ionian Boots of Lucidity, but I would say I build them once in every 20/30 matches, when I have completed my 2-core items and I end up having exactly 600 gold in bank to finish them. Other in those really rare situations I would always buy Sorcerer's Shoes.

Rabadon's Deathcap is item I do not build that often, ideally it should be your last item, but in the most of my matches I find myself in need of Zhonya's Hourglass, or Banshee's Veil.

Against heavy AD

───────

──────────────

Zhonya's Hourglass is really good against defensive item for a Brand into a heavy AD composition, especially with a lot of ALL IN champions, such as Kayn, Zed, Yone, that will go at you with their's Umbral Trespass, Death Mark, Soul Unbound+ Fate Sealed. With Zhonya's Hourglass you will manage do dodge most of their damage.
Frozen Heart is an excellent defensive item for a Brand facing a heavy AD composition, especially against champions like Kayn, Kayle, Tristana, Kai'Sa, Yasuo etc... who rely on attack speed. The aura provided by Frozen Heart reduces the attack speed of nearby enemies, significantly reducing their damage output. Additionally, the high armor granted by Frozen Heart helps mitigate physical damage from these champions, allowing Brand to survive longer in team fights. Consider building Frozen Heart when facing multiple AD threats on the enemy team.

Against Heavy AP

───────

──────────────

Banshee's Veil is a crucial defensive item for Brand when facing heavy AP compositions. It provides magic resist, AP, and a spell shield that can block a single enemy ability every 30 seconds out of combat, protecting Brand from key crowd control or burst spells. This can be particularly effective against champions like LeBlanc, Syndra, and Ahri, whose combos rely on landing skillshots. Consider building Banshee's Veil as your third or fourth item when facing heavy AP threats to increase survivability and prevent being burst down in team fights.

Abyssal Mask is an effective choice for Brand when dealing with heavy AP compositions, especially if your team lacks a dedicated tank. The increased magic resist and health provided by Abyssal Mask help Brand survive burst damage from AP champions like Annie, Veigar, and Fiddlesticks. Additionally, the aura provided by Abyssal Mask reduces the magic resist of nearby enemies, increasing the damage they take from Brand's abilities and those of his teammates. Consider building Abyssal Mask when facing heavy AP threats to enhance durability and amplify his damage output.

First Full Clear

Blue Sentinel

Start by using your Sear as Blue Sentinel is spawning and star auto-attack as soon as possible, kite it upwards, until it starts losing patience and than start kiting back to Gromp. Use your first Smite as it drops bellow and 700HP and let your Scorchclaw Pup to the rest. If you are afraid of some type of invades or got a leash from Darius or Twitch make sure you wait for it to drop bellow 600HP.

Gromp

If you did first part correctly, you should have some cooldown for your Sear. WAIT FOR IT, DO NOT THROW Pillar of Flame. Throw your Sear, autoattack twice, and then throw Pillar of Flame into another two auto attacks into second Sear this is how do you manage to proc your Blaze at level 2 on a camp. Finish Gromp with autoattacks and another Pillar of Flame.

Wolves

Same here, wait for cooldown of your Pillar of Flame to be lower than 3seconds, use your first Sear 2 auto attacks, Pillar of Flame, two auto attacks and second Sear for your Blaze to proc. After this you are level 3 and clearing becomes much less complex.

Raptors

Use your Sear while running towards Raptors so it hits the big raptor. Throw one autoattack as soon as it comes into your vision, and then throw both Pillar of Flame and Conflagration to proc Blaze. Kite towards wall of Red Brambleback. Auto attack Big raptor only.[/center]

Red Brambleback

Once you are close to killing Big Raptor throw Sear on Red Brambleback and move towards it. Use Pillar of Flame, Conflagration and Smite to finish of the camp. Be careful of invade here. Kha'Zix, Talon, Master Yi players love to invade you at your Red, so make sure you wait for <600HP to Smite it.

Krugs

As finishing Red Brambleback you should be moving towards Golems throw any spell on Big Golem before Pillar of Flame, then proc your Blaze, always save either Conflagration or Pillar of Flame to kill all of the small Krugs.
