i really liked previous last whisper, 35% total armor pen on draven was hilarious, now u only buy it against tanks. riot should bring it back

That's no more armor penetration, it ignores armor not penetrates now(worse syneergy than before f.e. with Wukong crushing blow)

The way armor pen works was actually changed since that post; LW is now always worth getting no matter what; it is the single most cost-effective AD item for anyone who deals primarily AD-scaling physical damage.

A little old on the post but I was doing the math, LW is still worth taking even if you have other armor pen items. Yes, it does lose its effectiveness but I was comparing items for my Garen build. Black Cleaver, Armor Pen Marks and 8% from Masteries, the only 2 things left in the game (aside from specific champ abilities) are Yomuu's Ghostblade and Last Whisper.

Yomuu gives flat +20 armor pen. The target has to have less than 85 Armor to have the 20 armor pen be bigger than the 35% from Last Whisper. Nearly every champ in the game will have that unless they go very agressive on runes as well as items. 1 defensive item or a set of Armor Seals will ensure that getting LW is still worth it.

TL;DR Get LW if you have problems with armored champs, even if you have other armor pen items.

40% applies after the 15.

100 armor against Last Whisper and Brutalizer.
100 - 15 ArP = 85
85 - 40% = 51

100 armor against Last Whisper.
100 - 40% = 60

Therefore, because Last Whisper is applied after,
you lose 6 ArP from Brutalizer. Alone, LW is a great
ArP item, but it shouldn't be used when stacking
ArP.

Great item on champions that don't include Brutalizer
or Black Cleaver in their build.

i dont quite understand it... or at least how it works in combination with armor pen.
f.e.: enemy got 100 armor. you got last whisper and The Brutalizer
so you penetrate 40% of the defenders armor means as if he had 60 armor. then arp of brutalizer? or first ArP then penetrate? or does it give you just 40 more penetration?
or does the higher one count?
