League of Legends (LoL) Question: Lucian: CASTER or AUTO ATTACKER?

He is both at the moment.

I can't imagine any reason for The Pink Poro to not mention Trinity Force as a good item. I get it most of the time myself.


What I build most of the time (varies a bit on the enemy team):

Cast, Auto Attack, Cast, Auto Attack, Cast lather rinse repeat. You just got to make the most out of his passive, as for builds Pink Poro and Janitsu have already posted some of the best build paths for Lucian.

He's actually pretty good with both right now.

A lot of players have been leaning towards a cdr/crit focused build. They're usually starting off with The Brutalizer, Blade of the Ruined King & Ionian Boots of Lucidity for your core items, moving into Youmuu's Ghostblade & Last Whisper for armor penetration, and rounding out the build with Infinity Edge and a defensive item.

Since they reworked his E to where procing his passive lowers the CD, having about 30% CDR from items and Masteries let's you get a minimum of 2 E casts off per fight. Since Lucian fired his doubles hot very quickly this means you can E in, double shot, Q, double shot, W, double shot, and then either E out or use it for more chase. You can use this combo for a pretty high amount of burst when you're getting Blade passive proced on every hit, and when you have +20 flat armor pen from the ghostblade.


Lucian is an ADC, but his main damage comes interweaving his abilities and auto attacks, similar to Ezreal or Varus.

He is really unique, something between caster and auto-attacker with hard burst, CD can be good but not necessarily thing. Your combo should look E autoattack W autottack Q autoattack (it should be enough to kill eveyone who is running from you) and then E again to escape. Now most of players go towards Youmuu's Ghostblade Last Whisper Infinity Edge but i prefer Trinity Force because it makes you kinda assassin coz with passive+tri force your attack really hurt. Still in ranked teams they go for cheaper as they group earlier so 1 item is better then having Sheen and Phage and when others see what pro's do they try to copy and it spread a lot but trinity is much more effective on solo Q.
