League of Legends (LoL) Question: Soraka in the the Championship

    Soraka in the the Championship

In between games yesterday, the analysts were talking about how strong Zed would be in the Worlds and were discussing means of countering him. Krepo dropped a comment about Soraka, since she is almost a perfect counter to his burst. Armor buff and a heal through Astral Blessing, along with a silence, would in my opinion be enough to make a carry survive Zed's burst. To add to that, with the tri-force Corki dominating yesterday, who has ridiculous amounts of early game magic damage, the MR through her passive Consecration could play a big role in bottom lane fights. I was wondering if these two factors would make up for her lack of CC and make her viable?

TL;DR Are Soraka's armor and MR buffs strong enough to counter Zed and Corki, the current dominators of the meta?

Soraka is a good champ and her Q is kinda op.You can use Ulti in TF too.

She has an incredibly weak early-game, say level 1-5 which is an issue. However, in tournaments you often have 1v2 lanes and then it doesn't really matter that soraka isn't as strong as lulu or thresh.

I've sometimes used Soraka as a fun pick vs zed and I believe I have a 100% ratio on her (out of 3 games though) - she is really good versus Zed but I don't know how about the matchup versus corki.

Soraka is a really weak early game support, due to having no real damage in lane, or any cc. However, if you can make it to late game with her, you can pretty much counteract anyone's burst with her huge amount of heals and armor and mr buffs. She is Incredibly strong against Zed, Karthus (her ultimate can negate alot of the damage from his ultimate; global heal counters global ultimate), and many other champions with alot of burst, such as Corki, or most mid laners. She is just so weak any squishy early game, that it is hard to get to late game as her, but if you do you can do very well in late game team fights.

Soraka heals are weak in the early levels but once you have a few levels in the spell you cannot be poked down by any lane.

Yes your right maybe i have never played with a good soraka before, because I most always lose trades when I have her as a support.

You know you can prevent pokes from people by using Silence, right?

she also provides no cc, which can lead to winning trades as well. Her Starcall is also very unreliable to land, and deals very little damage, since you will not be maxing it in lane.

In my experience, when i have played with Soraka i have generally lost most trades in lane when the enemy support comes in to damage me too. For example, I was playing as Caitlyn with Soraka against an Ezreal Sona lane, and even though you can spam spells and get heals constantly, you still lose trades when the enemy support deals significant damage, and you lose them even harder if you are against a support that provides heals too such as Sona. I may be wrong, but this is from my experiences playing with her.

Soraka is actually really strong in lane because it allows your carry to spam spells and win every trade because you can just keep up healing everything.
